For Craig and Jackie, our New Zealand Accor Plus Ambassadors visiting a hotel is like visiting a group of old friends. We catch up with them at the Pullman Auckland.
We simply love The Pullman Auckland – it’s our hotel of choice both for location, facilities and the friendliness of the staff. Coincidentally, it’s the first choice hotel for many bands, celebrities and the like, when they’re in Auckland, so you never know who you may bump into next. One memorable trip a few years back included a delightful conversation in the pool with heavyweight boxer Joseph Parker, two nights before a title fight! What a nice man to chat with, interesting and friendly.
Our recent trip to Auckland was as enjoyable as always, with the typical personal welcome from the concierges who greet us by name as we pull into the driveway. Matthew, Alex, Raymond and the team are very efficient and always make guests feel welcome- nothing is too much trouble for them.

Nowadays modern technology allows you to check-in online, but we always prefer the friendly welcome at the desk and a ‘hello’ with the team.

We have to talk about the Tapestry Dining restaurant, (this photo is of Theresa – a new grandmum again, and Kim, two of our favourite night time staff). The food is wonderful, and the chef is fussy about high standards of presentation and quality, and of course, prompt delivery.
We love dining in-house (I’d personally recommend the Beef Short Rib, Lamp Rump or Seared Duck), plus you get to enjoy your Accor Plus dining discount. Breakfast is always enjoyable, no matter your dietary requirements, and there truly is something for everyone. Despite the hotel hosting many conferences and the like, they somehow seem to keep the tables turning over and the food topped up — a real credit to the breakfast team.
For those who get to enjoy the 14th floor and the executive lounge, we have to mention Ariana, as she is typical of the staff here – friendly, engaging and just nice to deal with. The staff take pride in making your day relaxing and enjoyable.
Do take a minute or 2 to say hello, getting to know people, makes everyone’s experience more enjoyable.
On this trip, we treated ourselves to a couples massage before a busy and enjoyable client conference. Lily and the staff are very professional, and you are in for a great and relaxing time. Before our massage, we made sure we had time to enjoy a leisurely swim in the hotels 25-meter lap pool. This would have to be the best hotel pool in the country, not just the city, that I am aware of.
The next morning we also enjoyed an energetic workout in the gym which has an impressive range of quality equipment, with plenty of space.
Checking out 2 days later is always hard as you are saying farewell to friends, but we look forward to seeing them again.
