As part of the Australian World Orchestra’s bold and visionary MahlerFest 2025, we are proud to present a concert of extraordinary scale: a back-to-back performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 and Symphony No. 5 in a single evening.
This ambitious undertaking is as rare as it is remarkable. Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 runs approximately 55 minutes, while Symphony No. 5 stretches to over 70 minutes, making this program a monumental artistic endeavour with a combined performance time exceeding two hours. It demands both technical mastery from our musicians and deep focus from our audiences, offering a truly immersive and unforgettable musical journey.
No orchestra has ever presented these two towering works together in one evening. While Mahler’s symphonies are regularly programmed as stand-alone centrepieces, the pairing of Symphony No. 4 and Symphony No. 5 on the same night sets a new precedent in orchestral performance and artistic ambition.
